Wilmot House has a variety of well appointed
single, twin, double and family rooms, some with en-suites, available for bed &
breakfast.
Enjoy a hearty Aga breakfast of carefully
selected local produce served on Spode china in the beamed dining room, where beautiful antique furniture is at home in Georgian
splendour. Guests may relax in our comfortable lounge, enjoy the well stocked gardens or take
a refreshing walk alongside the nearby River Trent. Equidistant
(20 minutes) to Lincoln, Newark & Retford.
Lincoln
is fascinating, with its historic Cathedral, Castle, Museum,
Brayford Pool and Steep Hill. There are plentiful individual
shops, bars and restaurants, also good local theatres. The
atmospheric Christmas Market is very popular, held at the
beginning of December.
Newark is a delightful market town on the
River Trent, oozing history
with a plethora of fascinating buildings. It is famous for antiques,
particularly as the
biggest antiques fair in Europe is held at the Newark showground six times a
year. Between Newark
& Lincoln is Swinderby - famed for Antiques Fairs, also
easily accessible from Wilmot House.
A short drive from Wilmot House takes
you to Sherwood Forest with its
Great Oak and Visitor Centre, also Sundown Adventureland - a child's paradise.
Locally there are award winning tea shops, ice cream makers, fish restaurants, National Trust
properties, also a diversity of unique attractions from a working
windmill to a Japanese Zen Garden, the National Holocaust
Centre to the only village in the UK still carrying out strip
farming.
